I recently swapped out the radiator fluid in my 2013 Honda Accord Sport 6-speed manual.
I hadn't noticed until I was bleeding the system (with the Lyle spill-free funnel) that I drained less than a gallon of old fluid and wasn't able to refill it with the owner's manual listed capacity of 1.65 gal. It definitely drained less than a gallon, and I believe I replaced about 1.25 max--radiator topped off, including the reserve tank.
Is it possible there was undrained fluid somewhere in the system?
It's really bothering me now because I'd hate to have mixed old and new fluid.
Any guidance is appreciated. I'm just a chimp. 🦧
You don't get it all out by draining. Don't worry about some old coolant being in there. Just change it a little more often than the recommended interval.
the motor holds a lot of water too, my quess is you just drained and filled radiator. So then you would not need as much antifreeze and water mixture as the specs says.
