2013 Camry SE 4 cyl, 6 speed automatic, 120,000 miles. I bought this 6 mos ago. I have no idea if the transmission fluid has ever been changed. I am considering changing it but with 120,000 miles I don't know if I should. It is working fine. I have had a 1999 and 1998 camry 4 cyl and they never had any fluid changes and went to 200,000 miles. I had another 1999 Camry 4 cyl and the dealer suggested I get the tranny flushed at 120000 or so and it wrecked the tranny. What do you think? One of your videos recommended replacing 24oz of fluid with Lucas Transmission Fix or should I leave well enough alone.
I don't know if I should
If you want it to last then you should.
Buy yourself a good OEM filter (none of that aftermarket chinese garbage from amazon). Drop the pan, change the filter, clean off the pan and magnet. Refill the transmission, and (with the parking brake set) run through ALL the gears in idle, pausing about 10 seconds on each one. Check the fluid level again (following the correct procedure to the letter) and top it off. Then take it on the road and go through the gears again. Make sure you get it up to highway speed (so it shifts into highest gear), and cruise for a bit (to make sure the torque converter lockup circuit pressurizes). Then carefully check the fluid level again, and top it off. If you don't work all the air out like this, then you will wreck it. Changing the fluid properly cannot wreck a trans. It will only help.
