Installing Keyless Entry

Hey everyone,

I want to install keyless entry into my 1996 Toyota Starlet which already has central locking (I believe.)

I was wondering if it was possible to use this kit to somehow tap into my existing central locking.

Here is a link to a youtube video that shows off the system in my car a bit better. https://youtu.be/OmretmYIXDs

Any installation tips or other solutions are welcome as well!

Thank you in advance.

Yes it that easy if you have an actuator already ... my car did not have it so I need to make one up.

@klob Would the kit that I linked work? Also in the video, it shows off the system to help explain it better, what wires and how would I go about tapping into the existing system?

. all that it doing is sending 12 volts to the actuator. The trick u need to work out which one is your actuator pin.

It pretty simple.
I assume u dont have an alarm system to worry about ?

If your have worked around cars I would give it a go. If you have never worked around car I would give this a miss

@klob
I’ve worked around cars but not too much electrical stuff. No alarm on the car, is it possible for it to have 2 actuator pins? I found 1 pin that unlocks and 1 pin that locks.

I think it a state like one send 12v to push up and 12v. go down.
Or ground goes down.
I draw it out on paper ... and work out the logic..

I would not do that. It can mess your current system.
