i need a 6 cyl suv thats reliable and can tow 3,500 lbs. i found a used 2010 lexus rx350 with 175,000 miles on it with clean carfax, i can put a reciever - hitch on it for $250. The asking price is $9,500. is this a good deal, or should i keep looking?
They are good cars, and if it had good maintenance done to it, they can last a long time. Price is a tad high for private party, not bad for a stealership.
Make sure the engine oil cooler line recall was done, that can toast the engine if it breaks.
I would ask though how much you are planning to tow? If it had transmission service at least once, preferably twice, I would tow 2000-2500 with it, somewhat regular. It has a rating for 3500#, so I would not want to tow 3500, especially considering most things can go past what they say the weight is, like a camper.
If you want to tow, and you want a Lexus, I would go for a GX. The 4Runner is also a good option, and can tow 5k#, so 3500 is fairly safe.
