Hello, I have a 2011 Lexus RX350 with about 180000 on it, About a couple weeks ago, it started having a much more noticeable lag when shifting to 2nd gear, this only happens when RPM's are low and it almost non existent when driving faster. This transmission is a closed system and my mechanic said only real thing that can be done is to replace it for $4800 and that's with a used transmission. Are there really non other alternatives here?

No such thing. If that transmission has not been serviced over the last 14 years and 180K miles it probably is shot. However it would be a good idea to have a transmission expert that can analyze the data check it over. Most general mechanics don't delve very deeply into transmission diagnosis.
