I took your advice a while back and purchased a 2007 Lexus RX350 w/ 120,000 miles on it. Runs great and is smooth riding! But now, sometimes at idle, I hear a moaning sound for 1-2 seconds then it stops. I'm pretty sure it's not the second/high-speed fan making the noise. Any idea what it could be?
Well do my video finding a source of car noises Scotty. A device like that will find the source of any noise and of course take the fan belts off first and it's the noise goes away you'll know it's something the fan belts drive like the power steering pump or water pump
I have something similar happening on my 02 Mustang that began about a month ago. Sounds like a hollow groaning sound that comes and goes. All my fluids were changed last August including power steering and brake fluid. The oil & filter was changed about 500 miles ago. The car runs fine otherwise. Makes me wonder if something is about to break. I guess I'll have to go get that tool Scotty mentioned so I can track it down.
