I have a 95 lexus sc300 with a manual 1jz in it, 120k miles

Was wondering would it be safe to do an engine flush, and wash it with shell rotella conventional, possibly switch to that oil from now on as I hear these cars were designed around conventional oil.

Or is it safer to just stick with cataclean?

Synthetic oil would be no problem, I use it in cars built in the 1960s. What kind of issues are you having and what are you trying to accomplish?

my issue is the lifter tick when its cold, and just preparing to raise the horsepower much more

You might want to check out the ATS Carbon Clean product that Scotty recommends in his videos.

It is true that the sludge could be holding the seals together, brilliant.

If the engine has been well maintained and with low mileage for its age that should not be a problem. (It would really only be a problem if the seals were already going to blow in the near future anyway.)

Any good brand GF-6 synthetic oil is a better than what was initially used in the car.

Nah, be a waste of your time. If you want try a pour-in carbon cleaning, use ATS Pour-In Carbon Cleaning and put a new filter on and GF-6 oil in afterwards. I know of very few non-snake oil products but if you want to try a 'pour-in' use ATS.

I've successfully used it to clean up gunky oil but you do run the slite risk of a blowing your head gaskets if there anyways about to go and there was just some crud that was keeping them

I would use full synthetic
