Hello,

I was woundering if it is bad to the engine to rev it up when it is cold?

Because i took my car to a person that fix cars because my car has trouble to start, and the Guy rev my cars engine pretty hard when it was cold too and then i heared strange noises while he rev that cold engine and i did say that to him but he didn’t care.

Is this something that i sould be afraid of that he has Done any damage to the engine? Because i m.  And if u are a mechanic u sould now if it is bad thing to do right? And they sould not damage other peoples cars

my mom has a 2015 nissan nv3500 van, she asked me to start it up in the cold and when i did, i Revd. it and it almost stalled

Not a good idea to bash on the engine when it is cold in general. You want to wait until the oil is at operating temperatures for proper lubrication, and therefore, hard driving. It's also not a good idea to rev the engine high at a standstill as well. I doubt any serious damage occurred though...and don't go back to that mechanic.

I don’t know yet if my car is ok or if it has got any damage from that cold engine reving. I hope no damage if so the guy are in serious trouble. And the car is there for more inspection what it is when the car has trouble starting

It's bad to do it a lot.

If you need to do it to fix a problem, then do it. It's not the end of the world.

Well i don’t see anything that would fix a problem to a car that has trouble starting as reving that cold engine on , Will not fix it but destroy the engine 100% yep right

You can tell a lot by listening to and revving an engine. I think you're over-reacting a bit. If you can't fix the car yourself, then maybe you should let the mechanic do his job.

Like MMJ said, it isn't a big deal. Don't do it all the time, and wait for your car's engine to warm up fully before you start drag racing.

The mechanic was probably trying to listen for problems at different RPM's.

I doubt any damage was done.

Ironic, since Scotty is always telling us to do just that! (albeit not good to do it on a cold engine)
