Ford Edge opinions

What are your opinions on the 2011-2014 Ford Edge? I have a friend who has one with 250k miles and still runs strong. I am about to buy one with 125k and when you drive it, it feels like brand new, with absolutely no problems. Out of curiosity I have been to many and many and many massive junk yards and it is so damn rare to find Ford Edges there. Where I live there are hundreds of them and as far as I know, the transmissions are strong and engines are strong as well (I'm talking about the 3.5L V6, not the 4 cylinder one)

I understand that they have that poor design with the watee pump but honestly I have rarely ever seen a Ford Edge break down. I have seen some as old as 2007 or 2008 running down the road strong. I am shocked on how well they are made because I can't say the same with the Ford Escapes...

What do you guys think about those cars? Or what kind of experience have you had with them? I see they are also very high on value used, it's rare to find one less than 8k regardless of the amount of miles it contains.

your friend probably had the issues fixed when it was worth it or bought it when it was fixed because engine problems are very very common I personally would not recommend you buying one.

2013 Ford Explorer limited owner here... the waterpump issue is probably the biggest thing to worry about... on the good side tho.. you can use that as a some heavy duty negotiation ammo and knock the price down $2000
