Should we worry about cars collecting data?

I recently watched a couple videos on data collection of cars, especially newer ones. I see both sides of the argument with some saying your data is already out there because of our phones and other devices but at the same time, I wouldn’t want to not care about my “private” data going out to more places like others would argue. I’ll link the videos below.

Most people don't seem to care, espousing the traditional mantra "I have nothing to hide!" What George Orwell got wrong was the idea that people would need to be forced into constant surveillance - instead most seem to embrace it, typically in the name of convenience.

My own vehicles are too old to collect or transmit any data themselves but of course are subject to any external scrutiny that's out there. (Of course that's not going to provide as complete a picture as the car itself would.) So if the idea of your car gathering data on you is disturbing,  simply drive an older model.

"We" should weigh the costs versus benefits to us, and everyone will arrive at their own answers.

What I think needs to improve is transparency . Right now that information is obscured.  You have to become a detective and have a lawyer present to translate, in order to find it.

The reality of the situation is that 90% of people don't care enough for it to affect their buying decisions. And you will never make them care.
