Does anybody know if there is any equipment on the market to monitor oil level/temperature in a car not already equipped to do so?I have had a vandal or two drain a fair amoint of my oil on at least two occasions.over the last year and a half,so I would like a way to easily monitor my oil level,wi th out having to read the dipstick everytime I start my car.
oil temp will be close enough to coolant temp
That's what I thought but I want to say I've heard of newer cars reading oil temp and level.Maybe it's one of those useless "cool" features that is just there because it does something the consumer doesnt realize is useless?
I would agree it's a useless feature.
Why are people going to the trouble of draining your oil. Seems a strange way to spend time
Yeah I agree with Joe, who on earth steals used engine oil?! Sounds more like someone personally messing with you & your belongings..
That's exactly it.Its kinda complicated story,You ever hear the saying its easier to convince someone to believe a lie,but it's harder to convince someone they were lied to /duped? Well a family member made up lies about one of my parents, who's side I took in family feud.My other relatives have criminal ties that have followed me from one state to the next.Long story short, this relative is trying to financially ruin me and have been doing everything you can think up to make my life difficult.Down to being harrassed and followed by law enforcment ,which I know for fact has friends on the force. So ABSOLITELY it is targeted and malicious.I just drained my oil after my Tahoe sat for 2 months, and after completely draining for an hour, changing the filter, there was only three quarts that came out.I only spilled 4 drops so call it 2 ounces To overshoot the actual amount spillt.I should also note that there wasn't any oil stains in the drive way or on the street where I park.
Maybe you would be better off making it harder to mess with your car - like those weird nuts that have to have a special tool to tighten/loosen - like the ones on many mag wheels, or an alarm,

That's a good idea.I thought about paying a fab shop to modify my drain plug or another drain plug and weld a hinge that goes over the drainplug to place a lock of some kind on it,but it would be fairly easy to cut the lock off
