I'd like to get a Ford Fusion Hybrid. I was looking rental car sales in particular (Hertz, Enterprise). What is your opinion of the Fusion Hybrid? Which model & year stands out from the rest? What would you recommend paying?

That's the last place you want to look for a car, let alone a hybrid. The people renting them don't care about them. All they're after, is getting their deposits back when they're done using them. The rental agency doesn't drive with you, and people tend to be harder on rental cars than their own cars. It's not their problem when it breaks, it's the company's.
If I was going to buy a hybrid I would buy a Toyota hybrid. That is the only company I would buy a hybrid from
