2005 tundra limited v8 4wd 180k miles. $7000. There is a humming noise when accelerating, which means that the u joints are bad on it. Do you think, it is still a good truck despite that problem. This is the link:
how do you know it's a u-joint and not the transmission, or a pinion bearing?
Price seems high for a 16yo high mileage truck
Price is actually $2500 below blue book value. The person selling it said that the tranny was strong and it was a small humming sound appearant during acceleration.
KBB is overvalued.
I would not take for granted things said about the truck by the person trying to sell it to me. Check it for yourself or leave it to a mechanic.
I saw a woman was selling it so I am guessing the truck might have been driven better than if a guy drove it.
I think spending 6-7k is a lot better than spending 14k which was what I was going to do on a tundra a little bit newer model.
hahahahaha
without going into detail about drivers .... no
looks like you're right. That is around market value. Damn. Those are expensive trucks!
Anyway, I wouldn't buy it without knowing positively what the humming is.
If it really is a U-joint, then it's an easy fix ($200 maybe), and the seller should have no problem doing it.
This is the perfect size truck you can get these days. Not too big and not too small. The tundra's these days are huge...
So many assumptions being made in this thread. Men and women can be guilty of not maintaining their vehicle, so never judge off that.
I go off facts, and the facts say the truck has current issues that the seller was too lazy, or too cheap, to repair. So they are selling their problems on to someone else. Don't be that someone else.
And $7000, in that condition? No. Way.
