I happen to find a 1990 corvette with a manual for $9k that looks physically ok. The problem is that it has 185k miles and the ragtop looks like it has seen better days. is this a waste of time and money or is there some potential to be had here?

That's way too much for that car. It should be $5000 max in the described condition with those miles. There are a lot of old electronics in those cars and parts are expensive.

For $9000 you can find a lower mileage example.

Is this going to be a daily driver?  If so, forget it esp. it being 31+ years old and with 185,000 miles on it already.  Price is too high anyways.

Might be a steal or rip wallet. Pray you don't have electric gremlins, taking out the dash is a total pain.

Well heart of that car is its engine, rest can be fixed. Thats a lot of miles, ask him does he has any proof of mantaining that car. And check the engine with some scanner, thats an OBD1 but you can still see some good data. Check for rust, check under how everything looks, is it leaking somewhere are there holes, welds etc ....

Can be decent car or a pice of junk :/
