Is this PVC valve unchangeable?

  1. I recently bought a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu with the 3.5l V6 automatic with 165000 km. The motor is running a little rough and is a bit sluggish in power. I am changing the spark plugs, wires, coil, MAF sensor and EGR valve and of course I will clean up the throttle body. But I wish to change the PVC valve too. It appears to be a part of the valve cover?? Is there a way to change this or does it not need to be changed? I don't want to pry it out without knowing. Thanks in advance for any help. Mike.  (I was trying to add a picture of it but I don't see how I can add one to this post).

If the PCV is built into the valve cover, you might need to change the whole valve cover. I had to do the same thing with my X5, chance the whole valve cover for the damn PCV valve.

I did see a video of a guy that sawed off the PCV valve with some wire, and melted or glued the new one back on somehow. But really, that looked like it took more effort than it was worth.

The PCV valve is probably just pushed down into a rubber grommet in the valve cover.  I would replace the PCV valve with every oil change.  It's a fairly inexpensive part.
