Hey Scotty if I had know you before I bought the Escalade.... oh well water under the bridge now. have a Fixd scanner and put it on the Escalade got 3 codes P235, P0700 and P0700. Took to the dealer and they said the codes were due to poor performing battery. The truck is a 2018 with 20300 miles. I asked what the problem was. No real answer so they put a new battery in and send me on my way. I'm thinking maybe I should get out from this truck while it has a warranty and before more things happen. Also has had some other issues, cv axle boot replaced, dead battery a couple of times and alignment issues. Truck is running well at the moment.
So I'm thinking about the LX 570 or the Lincoln Aviator. I like the looks and technology of the Aviator and the ride is really nice. I like the Lexus but it bites that it doesn't even have car play. What do you think?
Bells and whistles are how they sell Escalades and Lincolns.
If you want quality and reliability, Lexus is the choice hands down. I'd rather make it home than be able to listen to car play while waiting for the tow truck.
Longevity- Lexus hands down. Drive 100k and trade out- Lincoln. Lincoln uses those ecoboost motors and they just plain suck for longevity. A LOT of early tech and the use of cheap parts make up those motors. IF you buy the Lincoln, first thing to do is install an oil catch can so you reduce carbon buildup on the valves since it is a GDI motor. Second thing do not miss a single oil change and do the spark plug changes on time, every time. Also, keep the transmission fluid clean by changing it every 40-50k mi.
Go Lexus
Between the Lexus and the Aviator, I would definitely go with the Lexus. Regarding the Lincoln - besides the plug-in hybrid version, the Aviator’s sole engine is the 3.0L TT Ecoboost mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission; the longevity of the 10-speed is still questionable as there’s already been issues in their other Ford vehicles that use it. The Ecoboost here is GDI with no port injection so carbon build up will be an issue over time. Additionally, the Aviator is fairly new with lots of bells and whistles so best to lease and under warranty at all times as Ford is also not known for their electronics. That being said, I’d go for the Lexus for piece of mind. That generation has been out since 2007 and is a proven platform, despite not having CarPlay.
