Hey Scotty got a 98 Jeep ZJ with the 5.2 I recently felt the Jeep struggle when driving and always having to step on the pedal for it to keep moving. It feel like it wants to let loose but never can replaced the spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor the ignition coil as well as a newly fresh oil change. Any ideas on what to look out for? Thanks!
Have you checked the fuel filter? It may be clogged and not allowing enough gas to the engine.
Never, probably when I get another day off
Besides above reply, check exhaust system back pressure.
Do you have manual or automatic ?? does it slip ?? RPMs go up and you dont move ?? In that old car lots of things is old and worn, if it was not maintained. Joints could be rusted and grease could be old, different bearings can be on its last legs. It can be many small things that can just start to die and all of them could mix to what you have, what is your Mpg ?? I have Grand Cherokee 5.9 ZG ( european ) I have 17Mpg average I can go to 28Mpg max when going 40 mph, around 15mpg when going 80mph on highway. What is your Voltage ?? battery good ? checked air filter ?? Lots of things 🙂
