I just placed a deposit on a 2022 Toyota RAV-4 XLE AWD and found a dealer that is honoring MSRP. It is very sad some dealers are blatantly charging above MSRP. I can't wait to get my new car in! Do you know anyone who drives a 2022 RAV.
Also, what can I do to protect the paint on it?

The best way to protect paint on a new car is wash your car by yourself. Use good quality soap that won't strip the clear coat on your car.

I have a friend with a 2021 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. Almost the same car. And practically the same car in regards to the exterior.
FWIW, they always hand wash their car. Like described above. And strangely enough, they used a Meguiar’s too, although I believe they don’t make the particular formulation anymore.
Some people do a clear wrap on all or part of the car. My friend’s RAV4 came with the bumpers wrapped. Dealer add on. Not sure if it is worth it, but so far so good.
If you can garage park, carport, or covered parking, that will go a long way in keeping the paint good. I know it’s not possible to do all the time, but when it is possible.
If there are any bird droppings, sap, bugs splattered on the car, wash it ASAP. That stuff will eat through your clear coat. I have an old Prius that had a bird dropping in it. You can still see the reminance on the exact spot in the same shape, because it ate away the clear coat. Wash it asap to prevent this.

For paint, I would keep it clean, don't park under trees, use a quick spray wax every couple months, and regular wax once or twice a year.
And @kaizen is right; covered parking is your friend (if it is an option)
