Key doesn't snap back and stays cranking

2008 Ford F-250 6.4l powerstroke diesel 2 wheel drive with 165k miles (engine swap)

I recently replaced the engine. After getting the cab set back in place I went to crank it over and the ignition key dosen't snap back after I let go. It just stays forward with the starter sylanoid engaged and keeps cranking. I replaced the tumbler and key ignition switch along with the starter relay. Could I have a short in the power distribution junction box? A short circuit with the starter relay or it sticking? I'm so stumped with this..... Thank you

Well, if the kids off doesn't snap back, that means you're steering column has broken in that particular part. Usually it's the ignition switch. It's off the does that not the electronic part but the mechanical part
