My son's teacher from elementary school is still driving her old Kia sedan to this day. It' s a 1995 manual transmission Sephia she bought new.
How come this car is still running? I don't get it. My thought was that 90s Korean cars were kind of junky.

Even the blind squirrel gets the nut once in a while.
It has a Mazda engine
Even a stopped watch still tells the correct time twice per day.
My guess: she doesn't drive much or has replaced one or more engines. She probably babies the car or you don't have strict technical inspections there. Parts are probably cheap where you live and perhaps it is cheaper to maintain that car than buy a new one.
The car is being used every day to drive to school. It is probably high mileage. In the Czech Republic, we actually have pretty strict technical and emissions inspections here. Cars need to pass it every 2 years in order to be roadworthy.
Technical inspections every 2 years for old cars? Interesting.
