KIA dealership needed 2.5 months to diagnose bad battery

Hey Scottie, I have a 2021 KIA Sorrento with around 37k miles. I purchased this car in July and it broke down around September 16. Lights would come on but no start. I had to tow it to the dealership. The back log of repairs was so big that a tech wouldn’t be able to diagnose it until October 8th!!!!! Of course all their loaners were gone, and a KIA customer rep advise me to rent a car and that KIA would refund me the money I spent. I finally get an update, my battery failed the battery test and needed to be replaced so the tech could keep on diagnosing. The battery warranty was for 36k, my car had 37,098. I had to pay for the battery, and the kept the car to diagnose it even further. Couple more weeks passed, tech couldn’t find anything else wrong with it. By the time I picked my car up, around 2 and a half months have passed!!! For a simple battery test!! So I submitted all paperwork to KIA to get a reimbursement for my rental. I thought KIA cared about its customers (let’s remember I spent 2 1/2 months without a car) and would give me a refund. But because my battery wasn’t under warranty, they “couldn’t” help me out. Please shine a light on KIA’s customer service and the incompetence of their dealerships. A battery test doesn’t take that long.

That’s telling if the backlog is so long!

The back log was

When you hear “back log” you take your things and go to a different dealership that doesn’t have one / has a short one.

Most dealers do not like doing warranty work, some dealers do everything so that you won’t get warranty work done with them - for example they only dedicate a few techs to warranty and most of their techs do regular repairs and service with no/short ‘backlog’.

I did Dan, I called 3 other dealerships around my area. One told me they couldn’t diagnose the car until oct 31st, the other until nov 18th and the third one until nov 28th.

Interesting.
I guess that warranty repair pays really badly on Kia’s if they’re trying to avoid doing warranty work that badly.
