Hi there, i am just wondering why when I put higher octane fuel in my car that has a bad knock sensor , car runs better. Can anyone explain this to me? Also, i am not a professional mechanic and it is my first time i am attempting to take on this job of taking apart the intake manifold to swap a new harness and knock sensors to the engine block , you think i can manage the job or seek a mechanic to do the job for me? Thanks in advance.
This is because the higher octane fuel burns a a slower rate that the lower octane fuel. What you are trying to do is not rocket science, but for the inexperienced, many expensive things can go wrong. I would take it to a qualified, independent mechanic who will stand behind there work if something goes wrong. If you do it yourself, who are you going to call?
