Land cruiser v6 petrol automatic transmission over heating on 2 gear

My LC100 v6 petrol 2001-automobile- is over heating on 1st and 2nd gear . There is no problem driving on “D” for hours ... it’s over heating only driving in 2nd gear ... there is a jumping also while shifting on second gear ... changed clutch fan water pump, air filter etc . No leak on radiator . I use the car for desert drive only in uae

Thank you for your reply ... I would like to add one more thing ... Radiator replaced last month and it’s one month old without any leak ... automatic taransmission and engine increases heat in 10-20 min ... the garage guy is trying to solve the issue for the last two weeks ... he says no transmission and engine issue ... gasket head is fine ... and saddest part is I am getting tremendous responses from v6 petrol unlike other LC 100 in that 10 -20 min I drive in desert before before over heat

I have to be on first and second gear most of the time as the team I ride do a lot of steep climb and crusading in desert ... yes I really shift to 4 or 3 ( by shifting d and put over drive off as my LC 100 gear pattern is 1-2-D straight ) the moment speed increase

I don't know about your Landcruiser, but in my truck second gear prevents  Torque Converter lockup and produces a lot of slip, which really heats things up. My suggestion would be to shift into 3rd gear when it gets hot.

  • Well I would say replace the radiatorthey do corrode internally and can't dissipate heat correctly and at those lower speeds you don't have as much wind cooling it where at higher speeds the wind helps cool it along with a fan

can't you just leave it in D and put it in low range when you do the steep stuff?

I’ll try that ... thanks
