Hello, I was wondering whether or not the Lexus IS250 is a wise choice. I bought the car used with a clean title and all service history showing it was maintained well. 08 model. My issue is just a few concerns. The car being an automatic transmission, do I need to change the transmission fluid every 60,000 miles? I cannot find any service history of that ever being done. I am afraid that it would be bad for my transmission if I never change the fluid for my automatic transmission. Also, these cars are notorious for carbon buildup apparently due to direct injection. My local mechanic that I trust very well says I shouldn’t really worry about it because I use synthetic blend oil, and in addition to that I always use premium gas. On Lexus groups, I have seen some people say that carbon buildup could destroy the engine, but they never specify if the owners maintained it well or did preventative maintenance like oil changes and proper fuel. Overall, if I maintain the car doing basic maintenance like oil changes, spark plug replacements when needed, new alternator, and so on, I should not worry about this breaking? My 2008 Lexus has 121,000 miles on it, but I have seen some of these get as high as 250,000. Recently changed the water pump , so far the car has been running very well.
Just second last a long time they are well made vehicles just to change the fluid every 60,000 mi or so and use good gasoline and quality oil
Any oil recommendation for this model Scotty?
Scotty has recommended in multiple videos that you just buy the cheapest brand name full synthetic oil that's the right viscosity for your vehicle. Amazon Basics, Walmart Supertech, and Costco Kirkland are all made by Warren, which is one of the biggest oil companies in the US.
Thank you! Appreciate it!
