Hi Scotty, I really enjoy your channel and watch regularly.
The Lexus has developed a knocking, rattling sound. Its a 2018 Lexus RC 350 F Sport with 38,000kms on the odometer. The engine it has is the 3.5L V6 2GR-FKS. It has developed an intermittent rattle from the right side of the engine. A recording of what the noise sounds like is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIPRX2upURQ
Any suggestions as to what this is likely to be? All help appreciated.
Thank you!
Does the rattle change with an increase/decrease in RPM?
Have you checked for any loose bolts? Also all the pulleys run by the drive belt?
Is the car still under factory warranty?

I’m a very novice mechanic so definitely take what I say with a grain of salt, but if the rattle increases with rpm it may be a rod knock which is a very pricey repair as it requires an engine rebuild or replacement, how often do you change the oil in the car? It’s not too often you see cars this new with rod knocks unless the oil was hardly ever changed, again tho, I’m a very novice mechanic and I would definitely get a second opinion before you take my word on what this problem is, it could be as simple as a loose bolt, a experienced mechanic with a stethoscope should be able to determine if it is a rod knock pretty quickly so if you know someone who can check that for you go for it
Must be still under factory warranty would think? My 2017 Rc200t is for several more months, curious what happened, thx
