[Solved] Thoughts on 2006 Lexus RX hybrid

Hi I got an offer from a private seller (who I don't know personally) for a 2006 Lexus Rx 400H with 175,000 Miles on it for just $5000 which seems like a bargain. Should I be concerned about the high mileage? Should I rather go for a cheaper Toyota model with less mileage?

Do not buy used high mileage luxury hybrids, and this one is 16-17 years old already.  Replacing battery pack, generator, and other aspects of the hybrid system will set you back another $10,000.

What if it had 70,000 miles

Yes and yes.

Maybe, if it passed a thorough pre purchase inspection, performed by a specialist mechanic who is well versed with Toyota/Lexus hybrid vehicles.

The present health/condition of the hybrid battery will be your biggest concern. As well as researching replacing costs for a brand new hybrid battery pack, if the need arises in the near future.
