Greetings; The wife's 2008 RX350 is having intermittent issues with the heater. While idling, the heater blows but doesn't produce hot air. Also, while driving suddenly it stops heating and just blows out cold air. No other warning lights are active on the display. And it doesn't matter if its in dual mode or if the temps are separate.
Thanks for your help.

Do you live where it is below freezing daily?
I live in Kansas, the craziest area for weather. We can have 10 below weather one day and in the 40s or 50s the next. Snow can fall, accumulate, start to thaw the next day and freeze over that next night.

More than likely its an issue with the blend door.
But the air flow doesn't get interrupted or change from dash to floor. Is the blend door the part that directs the air to floor, dash or both?
And, is there only one blend door or one on each side?
Saying its the blend door since you have heat sometimes and not others. The heater core is still producing heat so it is still circulating.
I went to carquest to ask about the availability of the blend servo and he asked me which one, so that started us talking about the likelihood of both going out at the same time. So we discussed the possibility of the thermostat being stuck open and then he mentioned that if the coolant was low you could get the same situation because the heater wasn't being supplied with enough hot fluid. I went out and checked right then and there and the overflow reservoir was empty and when he opened the radiator cap, it was low. I purchased coolant and haven't had a problem since. Problem solved. Thanks for your help in this.
