Looking to buy a car and heard these are good reliable American cars but does anyone know the best years for both cars? And could I buy one that has over a 100,000 miles?

They are dependable no matter what. They are basically the luxurious Ford Crown Victoria’s. They eat a ton of gas but so dependable, easy to work on and some things like the engine possibly uses Ford Mustang GT 4.6 parts. Whether you want a slightly younger brand(Lincoln) or a old man(Mercury). Your choice.

They can be good cars. The newer the better if you plan on using it as a daily driver. Be aware that earlier than 2002, there were still some bugs being worked out with the 4.6 SOHC engines. One being an intake manifold susceptible to cracking, however many of the old ones have already cracked and been replaced by now. Something to look for but not a deal breaker. Always have a used car inspected by a pro before buying. One in good condition will do well over 100k miles. Good luck.
