I must be living a charmed life, as far as vehicles go (I wish my knees were as lucky!). Discharged from the Navy in 1974, I bought a '69 Camaro with 59,000 miles. I kept this car for 25 years, never having a problem with it. Sold it with nearly 400,000 miles to a guy in town, and I still see it darting around. In 1997, I replaced the Camaro with a 1993 Ford Ranger (4 litre) with 97,000 miles. It now has 290,000 miles and I'm no confident in it, I wouldn't hesitate driving it to California. Other than batteries, brakes, alternators, starters and two clutch slaves, I haven't had any mechanical issues. I also have a 1957 Chevy pickup (235 straight 6) which I also drive in the summer. I change the oil regularly (Quaker State 10-30), which I attribute to their longevity. My only new vehicle is a Ford F-150 (2.7 litre EcoBoost). Most of the miles on all my vehicles are on the highway, as I live in a small, rural Wyoming town. We sometimes have a rush "minute," although we have no traffic signals.
The Ecoboost will put an end to your "charmed" life.
You have done well with your vehicles. Dont expect much out of an ecoboost. They are not the best engines.
The ecoboost might ruin your perfect streak with american cars as cars are built at lower quality these days.
Don’t jinx yourself..
