I'll keep this short:
I make a pretty good salary, live in NYC, and I'd like a reliable suv to drive out and travel upstate with during weekends.
I've found two in my area:
Black, very basic model, priced just under 10k: https://www.autoempirellc.com/details/used-2007-toyota-fj-cruiser/66748804
Yellow, slightly more loaded, a bit over 12k: https://www.yesnewyork.com/vehicle-details/2007-toyota-fj-cruiser-suv-0665ed6fead9dc4085d683348256e46d
I've looked at these through capital one financing, and dear god, the prices are ridiculous ( at least 30k financed).
I completely understand all of the nonsense fees that come with dealerships, but I'm willing to work through it if it means purchasing a car I'd have for a very long time. Right now, I'd like to take advantage of these two at a price this low.
Would prefer not to wait, as I'm coming to understand that these cars are being treated as collector's items, and more and more folks are buying cars.
Question is, worth the plunge? Any alternatives you'd suggest that are worth the pain of financing?
Thank you guys so much in advance. Hope you understand where I'm coming from here. It's a freakin FJ!
Go right ahead if an honest mechanic checks it out & gives you the green light. You’ve already covered the fact that you’ll be overpaying by going through a dealership, but if you’re set on it, there’s nothing wrong with the FJ.
The only real alternative would be a Land Cruiser.
Of you are just looking for a dependable SUV, lots of them are out there.
ig you are looking for a collectible, Go right a head.
