Looking into purchasing a used SUV, but I am debating between a 2012 Toyota Rav4 limited with 62k asking price is $15.998 and a 2017 Kia Sportage SX turbo with 12K asking price is $22.998 both vehicles are front wheel drive.
The Kia still has the Manufacturer Warranty balance of 5 year or 60,000 miles.
I value your opinion and would like to know what you think of the 2017 Kia Sportage vs. the 2012 Toyota Rav4?
the 2012 Toyota Rav4 has the 3.5L V6
thank you all for your replies, i feel that the Rav4 is one of the most reliable small SUV’s out on the road. I especially like the 3rd Gen look, yes I’m a little old school.
Once again that you all
Just stay away from the 2006-2008 years and the rest are bulletproof.
But honestly man 2009 2010 gofor 8 9 grand in my expensive California area I think it is way overpriced for a 2012 to go for 16 grand.
Skip the Kia and pick up the RAV4 or look for a good naturally aspirated CR-V.
No mater which car you buy, get it inspected thoroughly by a trusted mechanic, before you buy it.
Both the RAV4 & CR-V will run rings around the Kia, especially once the cars cross the 10yr/100,000 miles mark.
In your opinion isn't the rav4 overpriced? Even though I am in California it still seems like a joke.
Absolutely! Hence the option B of a CR-V. But if he can bargain the price down a few thousands, it might make a great deal. Used car prices this year though..
Well I am in California and I saw the exact same year model trim and mileage go for 18 grand so.... CR-V would be a lot less expensive but I would only consider certain years.
The rav4 will last longer but I would never pay that much.
It cost 25 grand when new I would not pay 16 thousand when it is 9 years old.
But still, the newer Kias have engine problems and the Rav4 and CR-V are the best SUVs out there.
Have a mechanic check it out either way though.
But yeah skip the Kia those had engine issues GDi and Turbo man do they wear out they usually don't even cover them they have lower mechanical quality I wouldn't buy it they are nothing like the ones from 15 years ago with simple 4 speed auto and naturally aspirated I4 built in Korea.
Skip Kia! Look for something before direct injection and before turbocharging. Honda, Toyota comes to mind, …CRV, RAV-4. Still plenty of these in good condition. All you have to do is find a good one! I know, it’s work, … but you won’t regret it!
F.S.
thank you for the info, really thinking about getting the 2012 Rav4. i believe that the Rav4 will keep its value longer and is very dependable vehicle in the long run.
Just need to see if they go down on the price for me. if not i can just walk away
Thank you all
