What you are seeing is a boot print on the laminations INSIDE the glass. Ford decided it was ready to sell to customers.

I assume the towing capacity for the Tacoma is enough for you if you need to tow.

As mentioned above, if you don't require the towing capacity I would buy the Tacoma.

If those are your final options, in my opinion I wouldn't even consider the Ford or Chevy.

There are a number of youtube videos with customer's who purchased their F-150's with surface rust on undercarriage parts.

Ford and GM work very hard at making sure profits come before long term reliability.
