Hi There,
My girlfriend bought a 2009 Volvo S40 FWD with 190 000 kms, i know that's high but it was meticulously maintained with a big book of receipts including an expensive timing belt job.
When starting up the car it is loud like there is an exhaust issue but i do not see any visual exhaust leaks and the noise goes away within 10 - 15 seconds, and when i push the throttle the sound goes back to normal.
There is no engine codes but the exhaust looks a little thicker than normal but no awful smells.
What should i be looking for here as im stumped, going to take it to a Specialty shop but as you know they are expensive $$$.
Thanks and looking forward to your reply!
Nathan
It may come from the cams. You may add some Lucas oil additive to the engine oil.
I'll give it a try thanks!
