Hi, just got 2017 Santa Fe delivered to me today, 20k miles, 3.3 liter engine.
After short driving, when I was parking noticed red oil light came on. Parked, turned off engine, gave it couple hours and checked oil level, it was full. So took it hyundai dealership, only couple miles away. While was driving there light came on again, with check engine light as well. I drove about 5 miles and light was disappearing and coming back. Dealer inspected vehicle and told me oil filter was installed incorrectly. They reinstalled it and bo more lights. Question is, could it caused engine damage?

October 5, 2017 — Hyundai is recalling 420 model year 2017 Santa Fe SUVs equipped with 3.3-liter engines.

The automaker says the crankshaft assemblies may have been manufactured with irregularities in the crankshaft pins, something that can cause the engine bearings to wear down. If the SUV continues to be driven with a worn engine bearing, the engine could become damaged to the point of stalling.

A driver may notice a problem if they hear engine noise or experience engine hesitation. In addition, the oil pressure and "Check Engine" warning lights may illuminate.

The recalled SUVs were built between January 26, 2017, and February 13, 2017, and all are equipped with 3.3-liter V6 Lambda engines.
