- Hey Scotty. I have a 1987 ford f250 with 50,000 original miles. The truck has been running really rough for many years and eventually quit running completely do to ignition system problems. So I got a new aftermarket msd ignition coil and a new distributor and replaced some wiring amd got a new battery. And I also replaced the carburetor with Holley sniper EFI. I am now finding that the positive wire for the ignition coil reads 12 volts until I plug it into the coil then it drops down to 4 volts. I also have another wire from the ignition system that didn't lead to anything that also read at 12 volts and so I connected it to the Holley as the source thst would give the holley power when the ignition is turned on but it also dropped the voltage down to 4 volts when connected. What could my issue be? Thank you.

Well the voltage is dropping under load so either device they're plugging into has a problem or isn't grounded correctly, or the bar coming from the wire has a problem from its source such as a weak ignition switch or some type of wiring problem that once the load is put on it it can't take the load and the voltage drops
