I own a landrover lr2 hse 2009 and the transmission is slipping... this is the second transmission I've bought and had put in. I bought some Lucas trans fix and was wondering if it's okay to put in the transmission or if there's a better additive for foreign cars or if there's a different solution all together. 111,000 miles, automatic trans.
Why you say it's the second transmission? Obviously you're buying either poorly rebuilt ones or just used ones. I would never put a used transmission in that English monstrosity because even brand new ones don't last all that long. You can try the slip fix. It might work but knowing those things they just worn out. Realize the English themselves rated that vehicle as the worst used vehicle to possibly buy in England
I say second transmission because it's the second transmission I've bought and put in. The first one I had put in by a guy who obviously didn't know whatvhe was doing because when it went out the mechanics that put the second one I bought in said it was missing bolts and wasn't torqued properly. I had gone through three cars in the last year one being a 2000 Ford explorer sport, the land rover, and a 2000 suburban 1500. Transmission went out in the first 2 and the suburban rusted through the frame. I fixed the landrover because I figured it's the newest one out of them and got rid of the other 2 thinking the overheating problem was causing the last transmission to go out in it and the mechanics changed the water pump in it when they fixed it the second time and I thought that was gonna fix the issue. Obviously not. I did buy a cheap used transmission as a limp away from me fix until tax time and it hasn't been 3 months sense we had it put in. It did come with a 1 year warranty on the transmission though. Everything I've been doing was a hail merry to try to get a better car and just keep digging myself a bigger hole lol. Any other advice besides destroying it off the face of the earth? Lol
Well as a bandaid to buy you some possible time, why not.
