Dear Scotty,
I have a Mazda 3 sport 2.0 diesel 2008.
When i give gas from 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm it sounds like a rattling noise coming from the vacuumpump bolted on the camshaft.
I already checked play from the axle in the turbo and tested if the sound comes from the turbo and my diagnose was false.
When i used your trick with the large screwdriver i heared that the rattling sound comes from the pump.
Car has only 106.000 kilometers
Do you know any cause of this problem?
Greetings,
Vincent

you could be missing a bolt, sometimes bolts go missing if they get loose and fall off, unless of course you make sure they are tight, if you spot a place where you think a bolt might be missing, you might want to check if air comes out from those places. make sure your camshaft is pushed all the way inside, sometimes they sit above the surface until you push it inside hard enough, then it goes inside all the way. also you could replace those o rings if your sensors have them. (injectors have o rings too) sometimes the 3k rmp the symptoms can vary from car to car, could you post a link from online similar to what you are hearing? what do you hear when you turn off the car?do you hear the same rattling noise? or only when youre driving? can you give us more details
