Greetings Scotty, what do you think of the Mazda CX-7 2013 with automatic transmission and around 60.000 km? I know you've mentioned before that the automatic transmission on older Mazdas are not as good as the newer ones. Also, what should I look out for when buying one?

Well get your VIN number and find out if it has a Ford variable valve timing system or the Mazda system. If it has the Mazda buy if it has the Ford do not

The CX-7 is decent, it’s a naturally aspirated MZR engine (L-series) and those are actually very good.

( The only bad version of that engine was when Mazda tried to turbocharge it and the result was quite aweful. The recommended 15,000km service intervals on some modes will end up destroying the rings… so service it every 10,000km )

Id look mainly for the transmission, as you mentioned their older transmissions aren’t that good.

I’d get the 6 speed AISIN TG-80SC - they have a very shady reputation, But in general they’re good enough just keep in mind they do require frequent oil changes (every 50k-80k depending on your driving conditions)

Except that, just inspect the rest of the car, electronics, rust, compression, AC, and all of that…
