Mazda cylinder deactivation

Hi Scotty, I'm a big fan of your channel from New Zealand for the past 8 years!

Question, I'm planning to purchase a new 2020 Mazda CX-5 with 2.5L Skyactiv engine that has a cylinder deactivation feature. I'm a tech person so I tend to do a research on stuff before I buy them (especially for a brand new car).

Anyway, so apparently there was a recall on the cylinder deactivation feature back in 2018 and it was quickly fixed with a software update. It's my understanding that all newer models come with this updated software fix.

So my real question is, how reliable do you think the engine will be with this feature? I'm planning to keep it for 10+ years.
Thanks!

I would not recommend it. Engine somehow wears out faster.
