Should I buy a new Mazda with cylinder deactivation?

I just put a deposit for a Mazda CX 50. I was pretty excited about it until I found out that every trim has cylinder deactivation. So I did some research and found out you're not able to disable it like other companies.

Has Mazdas CD system become better since the last recall? Or is it a lost cause and I should cancel the order?

I plan on keeping the car for 10+ years.

The cylinder deactivation system is inherently bad for engines, no matter who makes it.

Somebody will come up with a way to disable it.

Mazda had CD in many of there engines for at least 4 years if I remember correctly, and still no one came up with a way to disable it yet.

They will.

Given this I would suggest you consider a Rav4 instead.

I would cancel your order.  Cylinder deactivation is not something you want to mess with on any engine.  There is a reason Toyota (the most reliable car company out there, compared to the competition) is not using that stupid technology.
