Mercedes SLK with manual transmission

I have a 2008 R171 280SLK with a manual transmission, recently the clutch pedal has developed a catch about half way down. I have looked for the clutch master cylinder and information on the clutch operation to no avail. Do you know what could be the problem and how to fix it? Thanks, Wally

Well you didn't say how many miles the car has but I think that is just the transmission meeting up the with the engine if you don't engage the clutch smoothly it can grab. This is why most people drive an automatic. If it lungs after you lift off the clutch it could be the clutch going out or the transmission going out but you didn't list the mileage so it's hard to say one way or the other.

Yes good question, the clutch operation is smooth, no slipping, bucking or grabbing. It's just this detent as you are depressing the pedal, even when parked hand brake engaged and in neutral even when the car isn’t running.

I forgot, 86,000 miles, I've owned it since new, with regular service at Mercedes and I haven’t had to replace the brakes yet.
