I have a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis, 380,000 miles and still running great. Around the 300,000 mile mark we started smelling gas fumes inside the car when the vent/heater/Air Cond was running. When I raise the hood I can also smell fumes. I have checked the gas cap, no issues with it and no check engine codes. I can't see any leaks, and the mpg is about the same. What else can I check?
thanks

Does this vehicle have a carbon canister as part of the emission control system? If so, it's probably contaminated and needs replacement.
