What are your thoughts on a 2010 Grand Marquis 203k miles that will not shift into reverse gear? All forward gears fine. Seller is asking $1,500 and I'm wondering if it might be worth it to fix reverse gear at worst case scenario in terms of why it will not shift. Seller claims vehicle stopped shifting into reverse in January 2023.

To me, this sounds like "needs new transmission for $5k" and "don't walk, RUN away"

You might check the transmission fluid levels and (if low) try topping it off to see if that restores reverse gear. Given the car's mileage and age, though, I doubt that's the issue.
It's more likely that the transmission is just plain wearing out. And if the reverse gear has failed due to wear, then the forward gears probably aren't far behind.
I'd have a mechanic look at it, in any case.
