Hi I have a 998cc carbourated mini from 1988, theres a strong smell of gasoline/fumes, when I open the window -car has has aftermarket exhaust I wander if theres a leak somewhere or is this smell just normal for carbourated vehicles?
Or could anything else cause the smell?

Not normal per se, I'd look and check for a gas leak and possibly rebuild the carb (sticky float). Old and a lot of wear/age on gaskets and components. Maintenance history? How long have you owned it and when did you start noticing smell?
Definitely get it checked/follow through as it could be unsafe and better safe than sorry ; )_
