MMT Multi Mode Manual Transmission Experiences?

How is the performance and reliability of MMT, a multi mode manual transmission? Any specific brands to get? Any specific brands to stay away from?

I have yet to encounter one in the United States, but they seem to be offered in foreign countries.

The Toyota MMT are TERRIBLE! I’ve seen them completely break down before 90,000 miles. Endless recalls, endless clutch changes, endless this endless that. Oh and they always roll back even if you’re starting of even a tiny slope (E150 Corolla had it, and it was such an a flop the only cars they put it on afterwards was the Toyota AyGo)

on the other side, the PSA 6 speed automated manual (EGS6 I think) except for bending a bit slow when going from 1st to 2nd are great transmissions.

theyre used on cars like the 2008 Citroën C4 Picasso minivan and have proven them selfs as a reliable efficient transmission)

automated manuals aren’t really a thing because most of them feel like you’re being driven by a drunk driving student on his 2nd lesson.

Thankfully Toyota didn’t implement that in their cars here in North America. I am not a fan of automated manuals in general.

Yes, Toyota always tries to implement and experiment with new transmissions in Europe.
That’s why it’s hated here by many mechanics.
After the failed experiment with the MMT transmission they tried to sell here their early CVTs and oh boy those were massive piles of junk.
