Should we buy this Lexus

Hey there I love your vehicle opinions on YouTube. I’ve got a question that I feel isn’t much of a question at all, however a family member is helping my fiancé and I with a used car and she is refusing to consider what we feel is the Best purchase which is an ‘04 lexus RX330 with 183,100 miles on it. It was smooth as butter, has a 3MZ -FE engine. The interior is mint and has an added rear view mirror backup camera. There was 1 small spot of rust on the underside. It says it’s been in 4 minor accidents on carfax but the body lines were straight and I didn’t see any mismatched panels (used to be an expert paint matcher so I know how to see that stuff) the fluids were good t tires looked nice. Everything was good but they did have to jump it and it’s been on their lot for 6 weeks.

It drove like a dream and is exactly what we want for features an awd SUV that gets 29mpg ish. We really need something that we can rack 1000 miles a week on and will still run reliably.  They want $7688 but I feel we can talk them down to 5800-6000. Would that be a good price?

Everything else seems so far inferior. An ’11 Jeep Compass with a CVT (YUCK!) a 2010 Subaru Impreza sport outback with 150k miles. We don’t want to be stuck with expensive repairs and that’s what I fear with A sue-bee. There is also an RX400h with 169k but I have read their frames warp and sometimes the trim or other components will crack leading to a leak which causes the battery to fail. Some people have been quoted ridiculous amounts to repair this at dealerships quoted $10k for repairs but many get it fixed for around 3k at independent shops.Still that one is a little out of the range and doesn’t seem like it would offer the same reliability as the 04 ‘RX330 although having slightly better gas milage and being a few years newer.

We are in RI and just having a hard time finding something good. My mom wants a ‘09 or newer and said she would consider an older Toyota. We are saying this is it and she is just unwilling to even test drive it. So it’s been a pain. We feel a cheaper newer car will be cheaper for a reason. We also feel the more computerization in a vehicle the less reliable it can be. Most of the other vehicles we drove seemed like they shouldn’t have even been on the lots they were on and still needed work. The RX330 seemed perfect as it was.

What would you say. Is the rx-330 worth fighting for and would you take a look at it?

Scotty is booked solid with appointments at RI, unfortunately. But you can try contacting him. Details are in the FAQ.

I want to know why they had to jump start the car.
