I've been trying to figure out what's needing replaced, but have had no luck finding out what it is, and I'm convinced it may be motor mounts, but I'd like some of your guys' input on the subject.
I have a 2009 Honda Civic EX Coupe w/ 149,000mi Automatic
Some symptoms I've been noticing, is that the inside of the car is extremely loud, and it sounds like a loud rumbling noise at low RPMs (1000-1500) it causes my rear-view mirror to vibrate like crazy, but like I said, this is only at low RPMs, it's when I'm accelerating. Another thing is when it's dark out and I have my headlights on, I rev the car, and the right headlight kind of moves around which I find kind of weird; still loud, but the light moves in addition to the loud rumbling. Then, I decided to pop open the hood and I had a friend watch the engine, and they said that it moved when I was pushing the gas; it moved in an upward motion. Finally, while driving, when the car is shifting, I can feel a bit of a jerk each time it shifts.
I'm just curious, and I'm trying to get the issue ressolved. I'm stuck thinking it's a motor or tranny mount, but I would like to see first. I heard this issue was common in the 8th gens.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Put a piece of 2x4 or a similar piece of wood on a floor jack and put it under the oil pan, then very gently try to jack up the engine. The body should move right with the motor. If the motor wants to lift alone, you have your answer.
Could be either or even all of them.
