I recently bought a 2009 Mustang V6 4.0L engine with a 5 Speed Automatic transmission with 83,000 miles (made in Flat Rock, Michigan).Should I consider getting transmission fluid drain and fill OR should the filter and fluid changed? Thank you in advance for the recommendation.

Drop the pan and change the filter and keep the oil fluid just in case the new fluid causes some slippage.

I would chain it, drain and fill only with filter change. Keep the old fluid (just in case) like Yaser mentions in case there’s issues; if there is, then you just drain and fill again with the old fluid. From this point onward, change the fluid/filter every 40,000 miles.
