Sadly my car is currently in trouble and we have not been able to properly troubleshoot.
Common behaviors are:
1. misfiring at low rpms and at high rpms on rare occasions.
2. It developed two driving modes, one of which is smooth, no misfiring but powerless and throttle won't go past 3,000 rpms. The other mode is powerful but it misfires.
3. It switches to the smooth and powerless mode on its own after driving for a while, and I'd have to stop and restart the ignition before power returns, then keep going.
4. Starting the car in the morning doesn't go very smoothly. It struggles to stabilize idle, but it usually stabilizes in less than a minute.
4. Scanning gave P1658 ETCS malfunction, we swapped the fuse in the relay box but nothing changed.
Car brand & model: Honda accord, 2011.
Make: American.
Mileage: 54,000 miles.
Please help.
- Well you have a problem with your electronic throttle control system. Generally it's the throttle motor itself that you have to replace that assembly. But theoretically it could also be the pedal sensor or even a problem in the computer system. You can have to find a guy like me to hook us equipment up and analyze it rather than just guess because those parts aren't cheap. But normally it is the throttle assembly
Noted, i appreciate. I'm in a new city and it's quite difficult finding a reliable mechanic. someone had me replace fuel pump and plugs twice each. recently, i was asked to buy a fuel pump again, making the third time in 30 days. I am frustrated.
