Good evening Scotty!!
I was on a road trip in my 2007 Toyota Avalon with 172,000 miles. While I was on the highway, about 1.5 hours into the drive, I noticed my check engine light come on. It also turned off VSC and other misc. accessories. The car ran completely fine. The next morning, on our way to one destination, the check engine light was still on. The car still ran fine all day. Then, when we were coming home, the check engine light didn't come back on. It has stayed off ever since.
Once I got back to my home, I went to AutoZone to get it scanned, here was the code that was tripped: P0015 EX. DVVT System Retard Malfunction. It also showed some codes in the ABS system, C1223, C1249, C1381. The mechanic at AutoZone asked if the car rode rough. I told him it still ran like a cloud and it has run fine since. He told me not to worry about as it could easily be a glitch in the main computer. My last question is if the car is OK?
Thank you!!
My last question is if the car is OK?
Only time will tell. Intermittent problems are difficult to track down. Either the problem goes away, or it comes back.
Could well have been a temporary glitch due to aging wiring and connectors. ABS codes are commonly caused by wear in sensor cables due to suspension movement. Did you try clearing the codes to see if they come back?
